Activity Description
The Training of Trainers (ToT) on Composting took place in Galati from December 9–12, 2024. This activity was part of the Smart and Innovative Solutions for Green and Clean Rural Areas in the Black Sea Basin (Smart4Rural) project, funded by the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme. The event was attended by 15 participants, representing project partners from Georgia, Romania, Moldova, and Türkiye.
The objectives of the ToT were as follows:
To ensure that trainers understand the scientific principles and benefits of composting
To teach practical composting skills
To enable trained individuals (trainers) to spread composting knowledge across broader communities, organizations, or networks
To strengthen the capacity of local communities or institutions to implement and sustain composting programs.
In conclusion, the goal of this ToT was to create a network of well-informed and skilled composting trainers who can help promote composting practices on a larger scale, contributing to better waste management, healthier soils, and a cleaner environment. The training included both theoretical and practical sessions. Participants were introduced to the key aspects of composting as a technological process, as well as the main approaches to centralized and community composting systems. Additionally, study visits to composting facilities were organized.
