Activity Description

A study visit focused on exchanging experience in green waste composting was organized for representatives of the Rize Municipality (Türkiye) on April 10, 2025, in Georgia, within the framework of the Smart4Rural project (BSB00464).

During the visit, the Rize Municipality delegation had the opportunity to tour the Kutaisi Composting Center, which was established in 2021 as part of the “Waste Free Rivers for a Clean Black Sea” project (BSB457) by the Self-Government City of Kutaisi. It is worth noting that this center is the first of its kind in western Georgia and is successfully operating to recycle green waste collected from the urban area.

The representatives of Rize Municipality were introduced to the technological process of green waste composting and the organizational system already implemented in Kutaisi. The composting center’s staff provided participants with key information about the operations and activities carried out at the facility.

These activities in Georgia significantly contributed to building the capacity of project partners in the field of composting and further strengthened cooperation among them.
