Launch Conference in Ungheni, Moldova

On August 21, 2024, the launch conference for the project “Smart and innovative solutions for green and clean rural areas in Black Sea Basin” Smart4Rural” was held in Ungheni, Moldova. The project launch event was attended by 49 people, representatives of the town halls of the beneficiary rural localities Mănoilești, Zagarancea, Valea Mare, Costuleni, teaching staff from schools and kindergartens, members of initiative groups and local non-governmental organizations. In the conference participated Vitalie Vrabie, Mayor of Ungheni City, Jan Demidovits-Mekelainen, Program Manager, Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, Dionisie Ternovschi, Head of Ungheni District, Iulia Pancu, Head of Ungheni Education Department.At the conference, topics related to integrated waste management in Ungheni municipality, inter-community cooperation in the field of waste management, ecological culture in pre-university institutions were addressed and discussed. The event culminated with the signing of a multilateral memorandum of cooperation between 32 entities (town halls, schools, kindergartens, state and private institutions, etc.) and the implementation of an action to clean up the green areas around the Island on Lake Delia.The purpose, objectives, activities and expected results of the project were brought to the attention of the public. In an interactive manner, the major activities of the project were presented: the development of an e-learning platform on innovative and intelligent approaches to biodegradable waste management, study visits for the exchange of experience in composting, the implementation of an educational program, the implementation of the campaign of community awareness "Composting in every household!" and sanitation actions, setting up community platforms and composting corners in schoolyards, creating a open windrow composting station, purchasing a equipment It is worth noting the interest shown and the commitment of the participants to get involved in the implementation process of the new project.
